scarlett, called scout

Turns out titling a blog after an unborn, (and unconceived) child is the fastest way to hate a name you once loved.

Funny, right?

As it turns out, the fact that I’m no longer taken with the name Scarlett and am on the fence about the name Scout makes me fonder of the title of this blog.

The plot thickens.

You see, now it’s not a sentimental token that may prompt from some a certain unseemly gesture — mouth open, tongue out, outstretched finger pointing to tonsils.

Now, it’s a metaphor.

Because if nothing else, blogging is about throwing things out there — real things, real feelings — and gagging later on. It’s about documenting what you think/feel/do so you can see how you evolve/grow/progress so you can laugh/cringe/sigh.

And occasionally learn something.

Listening to: John Legend, “Ordinary People”

(Leave it to Teach for America to have a Grammy-award winning artist on their national advisory board. The free John Legend concert last night was incredible. Que your gag reflex: This song is so me and Trent.)
